The Nurse Aide Program Coordinator Course is a Pennsylvania Department of Education–approved professional development program designed to prepare qualified individuals to coordinate and administer Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs (NATCEP) in accordance with state and federal regulations.

This course provides participants with a practical understanding of the organizational, administrative, and compliance responsibilities required to operate a successful Nurse Aide Training Program. Through online modules, participants learn about state approval processes, instructor supervision, record keeping, scheduling, student eligibility, testing coordination, and reporting procedures to maintain compliance with the Pennsylvania Departments of Education, Health, and Human Services.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify as a Program Coordinator in Pennsylvania, it is recommended participants meet the following requirements:

  • Be employed or affiliated with a state-approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
  • Possess experience in education, healthcare administration, or program management that demonstrates the ability to oversee the daily operations and regulatory compliance of a training program.
  • Have a working knowledge of long-term care environments and the nurse aide training process.
  • A nursing license is not required to serve as a Program Coordinator.

Course Structure and Access

This flexible online course is self-paced within the scheduled session dates and accessible 24/7. Participants complete readings, assignments, and applied activities that align with the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Training and Testing Program guidelines. Each assignment is evaluated according to PDE standards, and participants must demonstrate mastery of required competencies to receive a certificate of completion.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion verifying their eligibility to serve as a Nurse Aide Program Coordinator in Pennsylvania. This certification does not expire. Individuals must then submit the Report of Change Form to PDE to be officially listed as a program coordinator for their approved training site.
